About

Roger founded IA Ventures in 2009 after spending 17 years on Wall Street and four additional years investing across data, tools, and technology applications. At IA Ventures, he led early investments in The Trade Desk, Wise, Octane, and other companies that went on to become multi-billion-dollar public businesses. During his time at IA, Roger consistently secured high-ownership positions in category-defining startups and delivered category leading returns. A three-time member of the Forbes Midas List, his track record reflects deep discipline, conviction, and an ability to identify outliers long before the market does.

After leaving IA Ventures in 2021, Roger shifted his focus toward investing family capital in sports franchises, sports-related technology, and emerging infrastructure across entertainment and gaming. This evolution led to the creation of Eberg Capital and ultimately laid the groundwork for forming Game Changers Ventures. Roger believes the convergence of sports, technology, entertainment, and the “always on, consume anywhere” culture represents one of the most important macro trends of the next decade, and he has continued to position GCV at the forefront of this movement.

Roger also maintains close ties to the University of Michigan, where he met his wife Carin and helped create a family tradition that continues through Andrew and Ethan. He remains actively involved with the University across Athletics, Engineering, and the Ross School of Business. Outside of venture, Roger co-founded Greatwater, a Detroit-based real estate firm focused on developing affordable housing and contributing to the city’s long-term revitalization. He is also a founding partner of Brand:Detroit, a firm focused on supporting Detroit-based founders, companies, and community-driven initiatives.
